Best Places for a First Date in DTR
So, you've landed yourself a date in the heart of Raleigh? You go, friend. Lucky for you, Raleigh has a lot of charming spots that only add to the ambiance of a first impression.
Let’s dive in:
CAM Raleigh: Where Art and Conversation Meet Got butterflies about what to talk about? You'll have plenty to discuss and bond over as you explore the thought-provoking artworks together at CAM. It’s located in downtown Raleigh’s Warehouse District, and admission is free! CAM’s refreshing and inspiring atmosphere encourages self-expression and connection. It’s the perfect place to generate the headspace you want on a first date. Don't be shy to share your impressions and thoughts!
42 and Lawrence: Specialty Coffee and a Stroll This casual and cute coffee shop is perfect for people watching, and there’s lots to explore in the area on foot too (Moore Square, Artspace, City Market, Fayetteville Street District just a few blocks away). They have specialty flavors of coffee, weekly features, and many options for tea as well. If you’re still thirsty after your coffee, go for a milkshake of the month at Square Burger!
Watts and Ward/Green Light: Vintage, Speakeasy, Nice Cocktails If you’re looking for ambiance, Watts and Ward and Green Light are our favorite dimly lit, vintage-inspired spots to have a nice cocktail. It’s a great way to escape the present and delve into the allure of the past. They both have unmarked entrances resembling times of prohibition. Green Light is adorably tucked behind a bookcase on Hargett Street! Right down the way, you’ll find Watts and Ward down a staircase at the corner of Hargett and Blount. Watts has a huge space with lots of comfy nooks to choose from, both indoor and out. You may even catch live music or a tarot reader there!
Morgan Street Food Hall: The Perfect Sampler You can’t go wrong at a food hall on a first date. There are plenty of options to choose from, bustling activity to fill the awkward silences, and it gives you control for the date’s timing. Having fun? Cool. Between the ax throwing and the outdoor bar, you can definitely stay here for a while. Not a great match? No worries, grab that quick bite and scoot on out! We love that.
Events at Dix Park: Fit and Fun Maybe you’re looking to spend some time in the sun with your boo. Taking a yoga class or joining in a walking tour at Dix Park is a healthy way to break the ice and explore new connections. Learning and doing alongside someone is a great way to get to know their vibe, and fill up your own cup with a little outdoor time as well.
The Merchant: A Modern Experience If you want a sophisticated and stylish atmosphere for your first date, The Merchant on South Wilmington Street is the perfect choice. This delicious restaurant and cocktail bar combine classic elegance with an up-scale gothic twist. Many of their cocktails come out in smoking dishes, or with flaming rims. Gorgeous! The setting is upscale yet very approachable, and sets the stage for an intimate and memorable evening. The knowledgeable staff is always ready to assist with recommendations, too.
Happy Dating, y’all!
