Educational Opportunities in Downtown Raleigh

One of our favorite things to do after-hours in downtown Raleigh is to take advantage of one of the many continuing education opportunities around downtown. Here are a few of our favorites upcoming in the next few weeks.

  • Of course, the obvious go-to for after-hours learning in downtown Raleigh comes courtesy of Joy Worthy Co., the Wilmington Street events group that comes up with the most clever and crafty class ideas. Intro to Acrylic Dutch Painting, Cupcake Decorating and Wine Tasting are just a few of the classes in store in the next few weeks. Grab a friend or a date and start learning the Joy Worthy way!

  • Cooperline, the celebrated new plant store on Hargett Street, has launched a new learning series called lunch + learn, starting Thursday, May 16. For this first session, they’ve teamed up with Leaf & Limb for a class about trees. RSVP for the free class here. The 45-minute class starts at 11:30 a.m.

  • Need a refresher on minding your manners? Check out The Etiquette Academy’s website for regular classes for all ages on good manners, including an upcoming class on power player manners. The six-hour class costs $495 and teaches all the ins and outs of business manners, from dining etiquette to dressing for success.

  • Learn to mix cocktails like a pro. Each Wednesday at 7 p.m., Kat Binkley holds court at Killjoy with a hands-on cocktail class. Don’t dawdle. Classes fill up quickly so sign up soon.

  • Get prickly at Curate on Hargett Street with a build-your-own terrarium workshop taught by Kayla Albertson of 3 Cubs Candles and Crafts on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. Attendees get extra time for private shopping as well as a complimentary drink. Cost is $35. Register here.
