Instagrammable Locations in Downtown Raleigh
Whether you need a glamorous new headshot, or an Insta-worthy backdrop for your next photoshoot, downtown Raleigh is rich with places for perfect pictures! Grab a friend and a camera, and we’ll take you on a tour of our favorite spots for shots:
The Dillon rooftop, 223 S West St.: Are you even an influencer if you haven’t posed on the enviable Dillon rooftop? With sweeping views of the downtown Raleigh skyline, this popular spot is located in the warehouse district above Barcelona Wine Bar. Take the elevator to the 9th floor and walk through the public lobby to the roof deck. Happy snapping!
The Globe at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, 119 N Salisbury St.: Take it worldwide with a photoshoot in front of the famous globe at the science museum. This iconic spot is great for family photoshoots. Pro tip: have your photographer sit on the ground and angle the camera up to show more of the globe!
Dix Park, 2105 Umstead Dr.: Ah, the sunflower garden. The enormous green fields with perfect views of the skyline. The mysterious old buildings that dot the campus (Halloween shoot, anyone?). No matter what time of year you visit Dix Park, there’s always an opportunity for a great photo. Don’t miss the sunflowers in late summer. Your dog will love it, too!
Marbles wall, 201 E Hargett St.: This one’s for the kids - and the kids at heart. The colorful courtyard behind Marbles Kids Museum is the perfect backdrop for showing off your child-side! This spot was made for taking photos, so you might have to wait in line on busier weekends, but the photos will be worth the wait.
Raleigh [ ] Space Parklet, corner of S. Salisbury & W. Hargett streets: Commissioned by Pam Blondin of Deco Raleigh, Raleigh’s first sidewalk mural and the area’s first parklet have become a popular attraction for passersby. Take a couple photos in the unique mini-park and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. When you’re done, stop in to Deco and say “hi” to Pam!
