Walkable Errands in Downtown Raleigh
One of the best things about living downtown is the ability to leave your car behind and walk. Even better? Walking to get your daily exercise AND get your errands done. Need some reminders of how to get it all done in one big walk? Grab your bag and let’s get started:
Drop off returns. Who doesn’t have something that needs to be returned? Pack it up and walk over to the UPS Store next to Manhattan Cafe on Wilmington Street. Not only can you drop off your return, you can buy a few more packaging supplies while you’re there. (Here’s hoping FedEx will realize they need a downtown Raleigh location spot too!) 324 S. Wilmington St.
And while you’re at it, gather those holiday thank-you notes and instead of putting them in your mailbox, walk over to the U.S. Post Office on New Bern Avenue. Bonus errand: buy some extra stamps (before prices go up again) or stock up on a few gift cards to places like Starbucks and Dick’s Sporting Goods and greeting cards so you’re all set for presents in the new year. 311 New Bern Ave.
While you’re stocking up, get your daily walk AND make sure you’re all set with toiletries and office supplies. Who needs Target when the DGX on the corner of Davie and Blount has pretty much all the basics? Stock up on anything from envelopes to contact solution. 149 E. Davie St.
Need an onion for that dinner recipe or milk for breakfast cereal? It’s Weaver Street Market to the rescue. 404 W. Hargett St.
Doctor’s appointments. Yep, walk to your doctor’s appointments. It’s easy when your eye doctor (EyeCareCenter, 119 E. Hargett St.) dentist (Downtown Dental, 205 Fayetteville St.) and general practitioner (Wake Primary Care, 150 E. Davie St.) are all close to the core of downtown and very walkable.
