Falling for Fall

Five ways to experience fall in downtown Raleigh:

  1. Go to the North Carolina State Fair – Save room for fried Oreos and turkey legs, because the N.C. State Fair is in town from October 13 – 23! The fair is a North Carolina tradition dating back to 1853. Grab the family and enjoy rides, exhibits, games, shows, and, of course, famous fried fare – Korean Corn Dogs and Deep Fried Bacon Mac n Cheese Tacos, to name a few.

  2. Catch a college football game – Whether you’re cheering on the Wolfpack at Carter-Finley Stadium, or watching your team at a local brewery, it’s not a fall Saturday without a little (or a lot) of pigskin. Our picks for plenty of seating and lots of TVs? Woody’s at City Market, My Way Tavern, and Brickhouse Sports Bar.

  3. Enjoy a pumpkin beverage – From pumpkin beers to PSLs, why not spice up your life with a seasonal treat? Try the pumpkin spice latte on Sir Walter Coffee’s fall menu, or grab a seasonal pumpkin beer on The Raleigh Times’ draft list.

  4. Have a fall photoshoot in a downtown park – Go ahead, jump in the pile of leaves. Moore Square, Nash Square and Dix Park are three gorgeous green spaces to help you capture that Christmas card-worthy moment!

  5. Shop for fall produce at the State Farmers Market – Sweet potatoes, beans and squash, oh my! Fall veggies and produce abound at the State Farmers Market, just 2 miles from the center of downtown. Take your spoils home and whip up a tasty Squash Casserole or Sweet Potato Pie.
