Get a Pizza the Pie
In honor of Super Bowl Sunday fast approaching (and National Pizza Day), we put together a list of five of our favorite pizza joints in downtown Raleigh. No one will be disappointed with a pie from this list at your next football gathering or family night.
Oakwood Pizza Box – If people are lining up on Person Street, it’s probably for Oakwood Pizza Box. These pies are made with the highest quality ingredients and are totally worth the wait. Don’t sleep on the “square” pies, and try dining in if you have time. The nostalgic pizzeria vibes are great for date night. 610 N Person St.
Frank’s Pizza – Those in the know, know about Frank’s. Located near The Alamo movie theater in the Longview Shopping Center, Frank’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant has offered no-frills NY style pizza and classic Italian dishes since 1976. 2030 New Bern Ave.
The Pizza Times – The Raleigh Times’ pizza kitchen, known as The Pizza Times, turns out fresh and creative NY-style pies seven days a week. The chef’s weekly specials, like Chicken Bacon Ranch and Fajita Pie, will keep you coming back for more. Pro tip: Fill up with their $8 daily lunch special, which includes two 1-topping slices and a drink. 210 S Wilmington St.
Capital Creations – This Raleigh staple has been making pizzas since 1992. Offering carry-out and their own delivery anywhere in the Raleigh area, you can make your own mouth-watering pizza, or choose from one of their tasty “creations”! 1842 Wake Forest Rd.
Lilly’s Pizza – Yet another Raleigh staple since 1994, Lilly’s Pizza in the historic Five Points neighborhood is the classic pizza joint of your dreams. A great place for groups, order at the counter and enjoy the eclectic décor and mismatched furniture as you wait for your pizza. Make sure to grab some extra napkins! 1813 Glenwood Ave.
